The chief city of the district Abbaitis in western Phrygia, was probably the place of mintage in the second century B.C. of the coins reading ΜΥΣΩΝ ΑΒΒΑΙΤΩΝ. After a long interval Ancyra begins again to strike quasi-autonomous and Imperial coins from the reign of Nero, when the town bore for a time the name of Julia down to that of Philip.
